OP-Z MIDI Recorded into Cubasis really changes things

OP-Z MIDI Recorded into Cubasis really changes things from what it sounds like on OP-Z in very interesting ways and not just the sounds of course. I did have to edit the drums as it seemed that the Kick , Snare and Hats did NOT line up with Cubasis’s Drum sets properly. Very Bizarre sounding in Cubasis whereas on the OP-Z it’s a lot less Avante Garde shall we say. Still sounds somewhat interesting. If you’d like to hear what it sounded like to some extent on the OP-Z a check out my recent video “Here hold my beer” Hope you enjoyed, please give a thumbs up if you did and consider subscribing. Thanks for Watching.

Avicii Receives Posthumous Nominations at 2020 Billboard Music Awards

DJ Snake, Illenium, and Marshmello also received nominations.

Avicii may now only exist in the collective memory of the dance music community, but his legacy and spirit refuse to fade into the mist. The late dance music icon, whose estate posthumously released his third studio album, Tim, has been nominated for two Billboard Music Awards ahead of the show's 2020 edition.

The news arrives after Avicii's would-be 31st birthday, as well as the conclusion of Suicide Prevention Week. Avicii received nominations in the categories of "Top Dance/Electronic Artist" and "Top Dance/Electronic Album." Rounding out the list of nominees for the former category are The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Illenium, and Marshmello while the latter saw nods for Avicii's Tim, The Chainsmokers' World War Joy, Illenium's Ascend, and Alan Walker's Different World. In somewhat of a surprise, Marshmello also received a nomination for "Top Dance/Electronic Album" not for Joytime III, but for his Marshmello Fortnite Extended Set, which qualifies as a mix album. The record topped Billboard's US Top Dance/Electronic Albums in early 2019.

Other notable takeaways from the reveal include a staggering 16 nominations for Post Malone, who led the field. Lil Nas X followed with 13 nominations while Billie Eilish and Khalid each nabbed 12. The 2020 iteration of the Billboard Music Awards, which was originally scheduled for April before being postponed due to the impact of COVID-19, will broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on October 14th.

You can check out the full list of 2020 Billboard Music Award nominees here and dive back into Tim below.

Spotify Is Beta Testing Critical Upgrades to Its Apple Watch App

Spotify hasn't made any substantial changes to its Apple Watch app since 2018, but that is about to drastically change.

Though the Apple Watch first appeared on the scene nearly five years ago to underwhelming sales in its first year, the industry-leading wearable device has flourished in popularity in recent years and is poised for further growth.

As the release of Apple's latest Series 6 watch looms, Spotify has stepped up efforts to support and improve its capabilities on the device. Despite having an app since 2018 on the watch, Spotify has not created a native wearable experience, instead vastly functioning as a control for the Spotify app on the iPhone.

Until now, Spotify's Apple Watch app has not supported streaming natively through the device. However, recently users have reported seeing a blue "beta" icon within the watch's connected devices window, which has allowed them to stream directly through the device with no iPhone connection required.

The feature appears to be in a limited testing stage for the moment, and will hopefully roll out to users in greater numbers in the coming weeks.

Spotify has picked a good time in history to step up its support for wearable devices. The first half of the decade is forecasted to see the entire wearables market grow nearly 20% every year, according to a report by Mordor Intelligence. While 216 million wearable units moved off shelves in 2019, an estimated 614 million are expected to sell in 2025.

House Music Pioneer Jesse Saunders Sees Festivals Going "Back to the Basics" In Life After Pandemic

One of house music's pioneers weighed in on the current state of the music industry.

House music pioneer Jesse Saunders dropped in on Reddit for an Ask Me Anything Q&A, offering up his perspective on the state of the music industry in 2020 and what he sees coming next.

Saunders, a Chicago native credited as "the originator of house music," made history in 1984 with "On & On," the first house music record ever recorded and pressed on vinyl. Now over three decades into his illustrious career, Saunders has endless wisdom to impart, derived from his propensity to wear many hats as a music and film producer, record company executive, and radio show host.

Many fans and professionals alike are wondering how the pandemic will affect the future of music festivals. It was a question on the minds of r/electronicmusic subscribers, and Saunders didn't hesitate to respond. "I think the festival scene got a bit too big for its britches and will be brought down-to-earth when things get somewhat back to normal," Saunders weighed in. "What we have to remember as electronic music lovers is that no person, thing, club or entity is bigger than the music!"

Later in the AMA, Saunders doubled down on his sentiments. "I see things going back to the beginning when going out to dance and hear music were only just about DANCING and listening to MUSIC!"

In Saunders' view, the marketing and business sides of electronic music have created incentive for people to be seen rather than dance and appreciate the art form itself. "A break from festivals was a much needed reset. Events will have to go back to the basics," he wrote. "DJ booking prices had gotten way out of hand, and consequently so did ticket prices. I believe that supporters should pay a reasonable price to enjoy someone playing mostly other people's music. If anyone should make 5 or 6 figures it should be the artist singing the song...not the DJ!"

As many festival and event organizers have begun to set their preparations for return in 2021, it will be interesting to see how dance music comes out on the other side of this industry-wide reset.

You can dive into Saunders' full Reddit AMA here.

Diplo Has Urged Fans to Vote—In His Birthday Suit

The Grammy Award-winner stripped naked on Instagram to remind his fans about the upcoming election.

Editor's Note: This article includes a photo that contains partial nudity, which some readers may find offensive.

One day, Diplo is performing ambient music at a stargazing concert. The next, he's going full nude on Instagram.

The Grammy Award-winning DJ and music producer took to Instagram today, September 22nd, to remind his fans to vote in one of the most unorthodox ways you'll see. Ahead of the impending federal election, Diplo stripped naked on a dock overlooking a pond and snapped a photo before deciding to crystallize it on Instagram for all to bare witness (see what I did there?). Along with the post came a caption reading, "Don't forget to register to vote."

Whether you call the move genius or crude, there's no denying that EDM's ultimate Renaissance man knows how to command attention and stand by his convictions. If there was ever a phlegmatic presence in the electronic music scene—someone who does things their way without a care for what others think—it's Diplo.

The joint statement was shared by the @watchdogs.nl Instagram account.

Famed electronic music producers Hardwell and Chuckie are two of a bevy of Dutch artists to appear in a post by Instagram account @watchdogs.nl that demand "honesty and transparency" regarding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A Reddit user translated the post, which also includes a video wherein a number of the listed artists appear. "This can't go on any longer. We stand for good public health, our economy is at Breaking point, human behavior is being criminalized and what about the future of our Children? We want clarity," the post reads. "We had to watch the past 6 months how we kept moving backwards instead of forwards. That's why we demand honesty and transparency." The statement goes on to question the use of "non-medical masks" and the reliability of PCR tests, among other measures.

"We're saying NO in a symbolical way against all measurements until the government can justify the policy," the statement continued.

At the time of this article's publishing, the CDC marks the COVID-19 risk in the Netherlands as "high." There have been 95,995 total recorded cases and 6,281 deaths in the Netherlands.

Steve Aoki to Voice a Furry Prehistoric Creature In Animated Comedy "Extinct"

Steve Aoki is making his animated film debut alongside Adam DeVine and Rachel Bloom.

Steve Aoki has been cast in the upcoming film Extinct, a quirky animated comedy set for a 2021 release.

Typically, Aoki has appeared throughout film and TV as himself, but for his next act the "Waste It On Me" producer will be voicing the fictitious character Vinny, a member of an extinct species called Flummels.

The film follows the turbulent story of a cast of furry prehistoric creatures with donut-like appearances. When two Flummels find a way to time travel into the present, and realize that their species has since gone extinct, they attempt to travel back in time and alter history in a last ditch effort to save their kin.

The movie stars Adam DeVine, Rachel Bloom, and Ken Jeong and is directed by David Silverman, who previously directed The Simpsons Movie. The film was originally set to release in early 2020, but has since been delayed.

At the time of writing, Extinct is in post-production and pending an official release date, likely in the first half of 2021.

Bonobo Reveals New Collaboration with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

"New thing. Wednesday."

In a bona fide dream collaboration, Bonobo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs are teaming up on a new single.

The new tune will be Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs' first project since the late-May release of his scintillating I Can Hear The Birds EP, a song-cycle of ambient ballads wherein the renowned British electronic music producer used field recordings of warbling birdsongs. As for the Grammy Award-nominated Bonobo, the impending single represents his first solo track since he serendipitously shared two unreleased songs on SoundCloud back in July, which he produced "around the same time as [debut album] Animal Magic, around 20 years ago."

Both Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Bonobo took to social media to announce the forthcoming collaboration, with the latter writing a terse yet emphatic caption to share the news on Facebook. "New thing. Wednesday," Bonobo wrote. Check out the announcements below ahead of the release this Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020.

Riot Ten, Boogie T, Sullivan King, More are Throwing Down "Pavement Rave" Shows This Weekend

Bass music fans rejoice, because the adrenaline-fueled "Pavement Rave" drive-in concert series is back.

Bass music fans rejoice, because the adrenaline-fueled "Pavement Rave" drive-in concert series is back with two more must-see events in Scranton, PA.

"Pavement Rave" has been capitalizing on the drive-in rave craze with flying colors, throwing monster shows in the sprawling parking lot of Scranton's Montage Mountain. Earlier in the month of September, they hosted Adventure Club, Wooli, PEEKABOO, TYNAN, and more in a pair of monumental concerts.

The organizers of "Pavement Rave" are showing no signs of taking their feet off the pedal, so to speak, after announcing two more editions. The newest shows of the series feature yet another gaggle of some of the most promising DJs and producers in trap and bass music. Boogie T, Dirt Monkey, Chee, Jaenga, and Mista J will grace the stage on Friday, September 25th while Sullivan King, Riot Ten, Brondo, Decadon, and Layz are primed for a night of dubstep and metal-inspired bass on Saturday, September 26th.

It's important to note that the "Pavement Rave" concerts comply with social distancing guidelines amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Organizers maintain that masks are "recommended" when guests are outside of their vehicles and "required" when they move away from their designated car space to use the restroom or grab concessions.

You can purchase your tickets to this weekend's "Pavement Rave" drive-in shows and find more information here (9/25) and here (9/26).

ShyGhy Drops Haunting Single "Feel Good" on Smash Deep

A hypnotic house ballad on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's deep label.

ShyGhy has arrived with his latest stunner on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's Smash The House imprint, the tantalizing deep house number "Feel Good."

"Feel Good" arrives by way of the label's Smash Deep banner, which releases electronic music more on the melodic side of things in contrast to DMLV's high-energy electro house flair. The spellbinding single marks ShyGhy's third release under the Smash The House umbrella after "Get High" and "Find Home," the latter of which also features "Feel Good" vocalist Akacia.

"Feel Good" is a hypnotic house ballad that oozes the energy apparent in the releases of its parent label while remaining ensconced in a melodic backbone. ShyGhy does a fantastic job with the production here, interpolating Akacia's haunting top-line with atmospheric vocal tones and lush soundscapes before he builds into a remarkable drop, which features spacey, fluttering arpeggios and warm future bass synths. The single is an amalgamation of deep house and future that should do very well on Spotify due to its ability to fit in playlists across the genre spectrum.

Despite the name of the track's creator, there is nothing shy about the production present here. "Feel Good" churns along to a downtempo rhythm in terms of house music, but it contains nothing but punchy drum programming, potent layers, and dynamic sound design. All in all, it's another fantastic addition to the young gun's growing catalog.

You can stream "Feel Good" on your go-to platform here.

EDM.com Presents Synth Sisters: Vol. 3 [NERVO Takeover]

Welcome to "Synth Sisters," the best place to discover new electronic music from stellar female producers.

There is so much talent within the electronic music community that it's difficult to keep a finger on its pulse. To assist you on your music discovery journey, EDM.com's monthly "Synth Sisters" series illuminates new releases from brilliant female producers of all genres and sizes with the hope of celebrating their contributions.

In a special edition of "Synth Sisters," barnstorming dance music production and DJ tandem NERVO have taken over the series to shed light on their favorite electronic music created by women.

The prolific NERVO duo—comprised of sisters and mothers Liv and Mim Nervo—are in the midst of a typically triumphant year, releasing new music at a breakneck pace. They've unveiled collaborations with Plastik Funk ("Dare Me"), KANDY ("Supermodel"), Frida Sundemo ("Hurt"), and Krewella, among others, teaming up with the latter for the aptly-titled single "Goddess."

NERVO also recently appeared in Underplayed, a new documentary that underscores the blatant lack of female inclusivity in the dance music industry. As they continue to bulldoze the gender boundaries present in the electronic music zeitgeist, take a look at ten of their favorite tracks produced by women.

Marc Rebillet Announces Recording of Debut Album

The improvisational artist stated that there will be collaborations on the work-in-progress album.

Fans of the sultry synth slayer Marc Rebillet have begun to gyrate their hips in anticipation after his latest reveal.

On Twitter, the one affectionately called "Loop Daddy" shared the news that tomorrow marks the first day in the production of his debut album. Rebillet explained that like his live shows, the record will be done on the fly, so it will be interesting to see how wild he gets with his first LP.

When asked about potential collaborators, he revealed in a follow-up tweet that the reason he's traveling for the recording is to pursue collaborative efforts.

Rebillet recently finished a monthlong tour that saw him perform live for fans at a number of drive-in theaters across the country. Towards the end of the run, he shocked attendees by bringing out the legendary Erykah Badu as a special guest performer. This has caused some to speculate (pray) that she will be one of the included collaborators on the album.

At the time of writing, there's no word on when fans should expect the release of Marc Rebillet's debut album or who will be included on its list of collaborators.

Mr. Wilson & The French Tickers' Frontman is Actually a Chiropractor to the Stars

The iconic punk band is back with deep house and realignments aplenty.

He’s "back" in action. Yes, the world-famous Mr. Wilson and the French Ticklers frontman is making music again.

Upon further investigation, the real news is that we have uncovered the real identity of Mr. Wilson as none other than chiropractor to the stars, Dr. J.J. Heavilin. Without dropping names, he has treated thousands of the biggest names in sports and backstage at the biggest concerts. Dr. J.J. spent four days on a plane each week moving bones, "but moving people in other ways can be even more rewarding," he says. Now, he is making a name for himself as a leading frontman and music producer.

Any skateboarder knows what a "Mr. Wilson” feels like. Mr. Wilson explains, “It’s when Dennis The Menace leaves his skateboard out and his neighbor, old grumpy Mr. Wilson steps on the skateboard, flips upside down and lands on his head. I see this as a metaphor as life tends to give us many Mr. Wilson unexpected flips where we feel the ultimate in being out of control." As for the for the French Ticklers name? “French Ticklers are just extra fun,” he confesses.

A punk band of decades past, we can hear the moving life experiences in amazing story-oriented grooves. Mr. Wilson and The French Ticklers’ vibe is split between ambient deep house of open heart surgery-level love songs and the underbelly of multiple genres of EDM, all with an intelligent and sweet humor that helps the medicine go down. We are all excited to see what he will create to entertain our senses next.

Alison Wonderland Announces First Solo Release of 2020, "Bad Things"

"Bad Things" follows the spring release of "WWCBD" with phem.

Alison Wonderland just announced that her next single will be dropping this week. Titled "Bad Things," the upcoming tune is her first solo release of 2020 following her April collaboration with phem, "WWCBD," and March single with Chet Porter, "Bummed."

It's important to note that although the embedded tweet below states that the song is to be released on Wednesday, September 23rd, Alison clarified in a follow-up tweet that the listed date was a mistake and that the song will actually be released on Thursday.

On Twitter, a clip of her performing the unreleased single with Porter on the drums at the virtual edition of Lollapalooza was widely shared so fans can relive the first taste of the track before its official launch this week. In the video, viewers can see that "Bad Things" is set to be another one of her beloved vocal-heavy originals.

"Bad Things" by Alison Wonderland is slated for release this Thursday, September 24th. You can pre-save the upcoming track on Spotify and Apple Music here.

NGHTMRE and Galantis are Releasing a Dream Collaboration on Friday

Two electronic music acts you'd never expect to collaborate have joined forces.

Two electronic music acts you'd never expect to join forces have teamed up for an unlikely collaboration. Dance-pop superstar tandem Galantis and trap and bass maven NGHTMRE each took to social media today to announce their upcoming collaboration, "Tu Tu Tu (That’s Why We)."

The single, which features blossoming vocalist Liam O'Donnell, is scheduled for an official release this Friday, September 25th, 2020. O'Donnell is perhaps most known by dance music fans for his 2016 feature on Illenium's fan-favorite single "It's All On U." He also contributed his impressive vocals to Audien's single "Rollercoaster," which appeared on the renowned trance and progressive house music producer's 2019 Escapism LP.

In the meantime, NGHTMRE also recently confirmed a collaboration with another high-profile dance music duo, Zeds Dead. At the time of the reveal, he asserted that the song in question was "finished" but he was decidedly succinct, refraining from divulging a title, release date, or any further details.

"Tu Tu Tu (That’s Why We)" will officially drop this Friday, September 25th. You can pre-save the track here and check out NGHTMRE's announcement below.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre Announces Limited Capacity Concert with Tiësto

Fitz and The Tantrums, Lotus, and more will also headline shows at the iconic venue.

They say that when the air is thin, it makes your heart bigger—an occurrence that many music fans are hopelessly seeking during the gloomy times contrived by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Iconic Colorado open air venue Red Rocks, renowned for its natural acoustics and one-of-a-kind amphitheatre tucked inside a rock structure 6,000-plus feet above sea level, was one of myriad concert halls to shutter due to the impact of COVID-19. As Red Rocks continues the unfamiliar and tedious process of safely reopening its doors, its operators have announced a series of limited capacity concerts and livestreams.

Fans of the fabled venue can now purchase tickets to intimate shows headlined by Tiësto, Fitz and The Trantrums, Lotus, and Billy Strings, among other notable acts. The shows will follow in line with recent socially distanced Red Rocks concerts, which have admitted no more than 175 people to comply with safety guidelines. You can grab tickets for the newly announced limited capacity shows here

Pioneer DJ and Serato Tap Lil Jon for Upcoming Twitch DJ Set

Say it with us: "Yeah!"

Pour up "another round of shots" because Lil Jon is back for a huge DJ set. The "Turn Down for What" artist has teamed up with Pioneer DJ and Serato to host a two-hour livestream performance, which will broadcast this Wednesday, September 23rd exclusively on Serato’s Twitch channel. The stream will also be shared by Pioneer DJ's Twitch.

"We’re thrilled to be working with two music industry icons, Serato and Lil Jon, to share the power and excitement of music with audiences around the world,” said John Powell, President of AlphaThetaMusic Americas Inc. "While concerts and in-person events are on hold, the opportunity to stream and enjoy live music is a way to support artists and the industry and deliver something unique for fans."

A DJ set by Lil Jon certainly qualifies as "unique." The hip-hop star, who was vital to the popularity of crunk music in the early 1990s and mid 2000s, has also been a staple of electronic music for quite some time. His iconic chants are present in a number of ubiquitous dance music tracks that have been reverberating through the festival circuit for years, like Hardwell and W&W's "Live The Night," Flosstradamus and GTA's "Prison Riot," MAKJ's "Let's Get F*ucked Up," and, most recently, Skellism and Terror Bass' moshpit-inducing trap beast "In The Pit."

Lil Jon will perform a two-hour long set using Pioneer DJ’s DDJ-SZ2 Flagship 4-channel controller with Serato’s DJ Pro software. A Q&A with fans is also scheduled at the conclusion of the performance. You can RSVP for Serato and Pioneer DJ's "Lil Jon Live" stream, which will kick off at 5PM PT (8PM ET, 1AM BST), via Eventbrite here.

Miami's III Points Festival Shares 2021 Dates and Stacked Lineup With Eric Prydz, ZHU, Wu-Tang Clan, More

Well that's one way to come bounce back from the 'rona.

After the morose yet unsurprising postponement of its 2020 edition due to the impact of COVID-19, Miami's III Points Music Festival is bouncing back with a stacked lineup in 2021. Originally scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2020 in the heart of Miami, the next edition of III Points will return to Mana Wynwood from April 30th to May 1st, 2021.

A number of artists on the original 2020 lineup have been confirmed for the rescheduled fest, including Wu-Tang Clan and Kaytranada. They join a massive bill that features Eric Prydz, ZHU, The Strokes, Three 6 Mafia, Green Velvet, Virgil Abloh, Marc Rebillet, and Channel Tres, among many others. An announcement with even more artists is also on the way, according to a press release issued to announce the event.

Like the vast majority of event promoters struggling to navigate the pandemic, the organizers of III Points worked tirelessly to launch the safe return of their beloved festival. "The work that has gone into moving a large scale production has been no small task, especially twice in one year, but our team, our partners and our city are extremely resilient and we know in our hearts that April 30 and May 1 will be a beautiful celebration of art and music," said the III Points organizers in a joint press statement. "2020 has grounded us even deeper with appreciation and love for everyone who has supported III Points. No matter what the obstacles have been, we have always found a way to push forward with continually greater strength, fueled by the beautiful movement of music and art here in Miami."

All 2020 tickets purchased will be honored and automatically transferred for the fest's new 2021 dates. III Points is also honoring all refund requests for pass-holders experiencing the financial pitfalls of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the application process will open this Friday, September 25th. All ticketing options, including a layaway plan with a $10 down payment, will be available this Wednesday, September 23rd at via the festival's website.

Teenage Engineering OP-Z test with Filmic Pro

Teenage Engineering OP-Z test with Filmic Pro had some fun with the OP-Z and it’s step components. The 24 meg per audio pack limit irks me tho the sound doesn’t seem to suffer terribly. I guess I’m just spoiled by the MPC’s multi sampled instruments. I didn’t bother to fool with the Motion player of the OP-Z as I didn’t want to overload my brain. The OP-Z’s ability to be used as direct audio in on iOS ROCKS, I used Filmic Pro to capture this footage and it popped right up as an audio source in there. I just got a USB-B to USB-C a cable today to let me use some of my MIDI Controllers but think I should have gone with a USB-C Hub to be more flexible. Oh well guess I’ll grab one soon for devices that are USB Class compliant but use USB Micro cables etc. so far this is a fun machine. Having done 3D a animation in past I will jump into Unity and see if I can get my feet wet making VideoPaks. Thanks for watching please subscribe and give us a thumbs up so we know you’d like to see more videos like this. ,

Go Behind the Scenes of Kygo and Donna Summer's New "Hot Stuff" Music Video

Produced by Lighthouse Films, the new music video features performances from "Outer Banks" stars Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes.

On Friday, September 18th, Kygo released the latest in his line of tribute remixes. This time, the Norwegian producer took on Donna Summer's 1979 classic, "Hot Stuff." Alongside the reimagination, he also released a music video featuring the stars of Netflix's Outer Banks, Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes

Filmed in North Carolina over the summer, the production company behind the video, Lighthouse Films, captured the spirit of decades past to help set the background for the single. Before, during, and after the release of the music video, they shared behind-the-scenes footage of the filmmaking process.

It's interesting to note how Lighthouse transformed the modern-day setting into a nostalgic paradise using props and lighting effects. Also notable—due to the current state of the world—is their post highlighting the protective measures the crew took to safely film during the ongoing pandemic.

Check out some behind-the-scenes photos and a video from Kygo's latest music video below.

League of Legends Debuts "Worlds" 2020 Theme Featuring Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember

In addition to the rock frontman, the tournament anthem also features MAX and Henry.

Every year, the international video game behemoth League of Legends releases an anthem in honor of its annual World Championship, referred to in shorthand as "Worlds." The game's developer, Riot Games, has an in-house music team that actually creates each anthem and chooses the star collaborators to be featured on the yearly singles. In the past, the team recruited the help of Zedd, The Glitch Mob, and Imagine Dragons, among others. While each iteration has a slightly different theme, the anthems are all decidedly epic, channeling the immense magnitude of the international esports event.

The "Worlds" 2020 theme is no exception to this rule, as Riot Games recruited three high-profile collaborators to bring the story of the tournament to life. Titled "Take Over," the track features vocals from Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember as well as MAX and Henry.

Ominous bass sets a grand scale while lead vocals from the metalcore frontman prepare listeners for battle. Towards the end of the tune, Henry sprinkles in some bilingual flair and represents the tournament's home country with a Chinese and English rap verse. Contrasting McKinnon's rough vocal style on the finale is none other than MAX. The higher-pitched delivery from the singer-songwriter adds layers to the track while creating a monster conclusion.

The song was released alongside a dramatic music video featuring animated renditions of previous "Worlds" champions. Throughout the video, the protagonist battles with the esports stars before eventually finding himself on stage fighting for the trophy at the tournament.

League of Legends' 2020 World Championship takes place September 25th to October 31st in China. Participating teams, schedules, and a variety of digital content surrounding the gaming event can be found on their website here.

Lil Tecca Releases Skrillex and DJ Scheme-Produced Track "Selection"

The single was released as a part of Lil Tecca's debut album "VIRGO WORLD."

Earlier in the week, Skrillex posted a photo of himself working with Lil Tecca. The latter would then go on to announce the tracklist for his debut album VIRGO WORLD, which included what is assumed to be the product of the photographed recording session.

Luckily, fans did not have to wait very long as the album with the Skrillex and DJ Scheme-produced track was released on Friday. Alongside the new tune, Lil Tecca dropped a lyric visualizer video to accompany his new sounds.

Titled "Selection," the short-but-sweet single sees Skrillex and DJ Scheme blend their unique production talents for the 18-year-old hip-hop star. While it's not as electronic-forward as some of Skrillex's other hip-hop production credits, the precise beat accompanies the vocals well, keeping the focus on the young rising star.

"Selection" by Lil Tecca, Skrillex, and DJ Scheme is out now as a part of Lil Tecca's debut album VIRGO WORLD. You can download or stream the new album here.

Life Is Beautiful Announces 2021 Return and Dates

The Las Vegas festival will be pushed back one year and kick off in September of 2021.

Back in April, fans were disappointed to hear that Life Is Beautiful would be canceling their 2020 outing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other festivals around the world, the organizers are optimistically looking at 2021 for the return of the Vegas party.

Instead of changing seasons like some in the past have, Life is Beautiful will stick to their September schedule and simply be pushed back one year. Announced just one day before the 2020 edition was supposed to take place, organizers informed fans about the beloved festival's return across their social media accounts.

There's no word on who will take the stage a year from now, but previous years have featured performances from Zedd, Louis The Child, ODESZA, Kaskade, NERVODJ Snake, RL Grime, and many more.

The next iteration of Life is Beautiful takes place September 17th to 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets are not yet on sale but fans are encouraged to RSVP and reserve their spot via the festival's website here.

Tycho Finds Silver Lining Through Pandemic, California Wildfires [Interview]

On a smoke-free day in San Francisco, the producer caught up with EDM.com to discuss his virtual gig at Abracadabra Festival as well as new music.

2020 has hardly provided an aura for meditation, yet the ever-reflective music producer Tycho insists this year offers creatives a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow. In a chat with EDM.com, he discussed how he’s managed to find a silver lining through the pandemic, tour cancellations, and even his home state being ravaged by wildfires.

Tycho is a San Francisco-based producer, composer, and songwriter. Known globally for his instrumental production style, his music features downtempo guitar, analogue synths, and a variety of sounds pulled from everyday life. He first appeared onto the scene in 2006 with Past Is Prologue, an album that featured him performing mostly solo in a studio. Nowadays, the two-time Grammy Award-nominee varies his Tycho performances as both a solo DJ act and live band—at least before the pandemic.

View the original article to see embedded media.

While the producer has managed to make the most of his time in quarantine, the California wildfires, which have burned over 3.5 million acres across the state, have provided another ongoing distraction that has hit close to home.

"I’ve never seen anything like this in my whole life,” said Tycho, who hopped on the phone on a rare, smoke-free afternoon in San Francisco. “When the whole thing manifests in front of your eyes and is worse and worse every year it’s like, wow, this is just going to be a slow slide into oblivion if we don’t do something about this quickly.”

Most of Tycho’s music sonically places itself in serene, natural locations such as a beach or desert, but most of that inspiration comes from within and finding time to meditate. While most fans may picture his recording studio as a glass corner office overlooking the ocean, Hansen’s home life and recording space are far more urban. "I channel nature and all those experiences into my music, but at the same time, I live in the middle of a city and my studio is in a basement. It’s this weird paradoxical situation," he said.

After having to cancel the supporting tour for Simulcast (as well as a July gig with STS9 at Red Rocks Amphitheater), Tycho began working from home. "In a way, I’ve been more productive because I'm able to focus 100% on creating," he remarked. This isolated period of recording has not only given him a chance to create, but also to circle back to his original performance and production format by doing things solo.

The result? An upcoming instrumental Tycho album in the works, a standalone single at the end of the month, and a chance to reconnect with fans at Abracadabra Festival. The festival is led by founder BLOND:ISH and Liana Hilson, who have been producing unique, single-use plastic free events in Tulum, Mykonos, and at Tomorrowland since 2017. Abracadabra clicked aesthetically for Tycho, but the artist was even more impressed with the vision and execution.

The festival also offered him a chance to return to his original solo live show, which features keyboards, guitar, pedals and a lot of "messing around by [himself]." Before parting with us, the acclaimed musician and practitioner of meditation also commented on the state of the music industry and even offered advice to young artists during this time. "I just see it as an incredible and rare opportunity to be creative," said Tycho. "You’re rarely ever going to find a moment like this in history to try something new [and] probably won’t have another chance like this again."

The second incarnation of Abracadabra festival kicked off September 17th and boasts a unique lineup that includes Tycho, Diplo, Snoop Dogg's DJ alter-ego DJ Snoopadelic, Channel Tres, Nicole Moudaber, Claude Vonstroke, Beats Antique, BLOND:ISH, and more. In addition to the music, Abracadabra features an expansive self-care lineup, with workshops and talks from a bevy of facilitators intent on making you feel brighter and more grounded in these challenging times.

Fyre Festival Lawsuit Settled Between Organizers and Talent, Including Major Lazer and Disclosure

A trustee has collected $360,000 in returned expenses from Fyre Festival's talent lineup.

A Fyre Festival lawsuit between the infamous event's organizers and their scheduled performers, including Major Lazer and Disclosure, has been settled.

In December 2019, Gregory Messer, a litigation trustee, launched 14 lawsuits against Fyre Festival's partners in a bid to recoup losses for the event's creditors and investors who were fleeced in the operation. The lawsuit sought the return of $2.8 million in expenses paid to the artists and their representation, including Creative Artists Agency and Nue Agency. Messer and the defendants have now settled with a total of $360,000 in expenses returned.

The bulk of the funds returned came from Paradigm Talent Agency, which represents Major Lazer and Disclosure, who were slated to perform at the calamitous 2017 festival that never happened. Paradigm's artists were paid $1.5 million and have returned $225,000.

Headliners Blink-182 were called out in the suit as having been paid $500,000 for their booking before the band cancelled on the gig via Twitter. However, the suit alleged that they had retained the entirety of those funds despite their cancellation. Their representation at CAA have retuned $135,000 as part of the settlement.

The historic disaster of the Fyre Fest debacle has yielded a $26 million bankruptcy and new developments continue to occur, now three years after the failed venture was set to take place. Earlier this summer, US Marshals seized Fyre's merchandise assets for auction in an effort to reimburse victims.

Fyre's founder Billy McFarland is currently serving a six-year sentence for wire fraud.

NBA Player Kevin Love to Host Mental Health Q&A With Demi Lovato and Marshmello

Marshmello, Demi Lovato, and Kevin Love are encouraging an open dialogue with fans about their mental health and well being during quarantine.

Just over a week ago, Demi Lovato and Marshmello's hotly anticipated collaboration "Ok Not To Be Ok" was released on World Suicide Prevention Day. In light of the melancholic pop ballad, the two artists have now scheduled a forthcoming Q&A session to discuss the subject of mental health and wellness, which will be hosted by Kevin Love.

The star Cleveland Cavaliers center recently penned an introspective essay for the Players Tribune titled "To Anybody Going Through It," wherein he explains his own day-to-day struggles of life during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Love has been a vocal advocate for mental well-being in the NBA and has been open about his battle with anxiety and depression on and off the court.

For next week's event, Marshmello has set the tone for a different kind of Q&A session, one more akin to an open dialogue. The producer encouraged fans to open up about their lives during quarantine and how they are handling the experience.

Questions will be selected on Twitter starting at 12PM PST (3PM ET) on Monday, September 21st. Fans should tweet using the #oknottobeok hashtag to participate.
