DJ Snake Brings on J Balvin, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, Natti Natasha, Darell and Sech for "Loco Contigo" Remix

How many hitmakers can he fit in one track?

International superstar DJ Snake (William Sami Étienne Grigahcine) is back to spice up the airwaves with the release of the official remix for "Loco Contigo", originally dropped with J Balvin and Tyga. Joining the track is Ozuna, Nicky Jam, Natti Natasha, Darrell, and Sech. With all these new additions the extended version is now coming in at nearly 6 minutes in length. Grigahcine is bringing his summer smash hit back to warm up fans this winter season.

The French producer has been making a significant name for himself in the Latin music world for some time now. After throwing a remix together with this many Latin stars he's further solidifying himself as a major contender that market. The vivacious and sultry rhythm pair perfectly with Ozuna's colorful addition. Each player added to the remix provides their own dance-inducing flair on top of the original.

"Loco Contigo" was just one of a number of bilingual tracks off his 2019 album Carte Blanche. Other notable singles featured on the LP were  "Taki Taki" with Ozuna, Selena Gomez, and Cardi B as well as "Fuego" with Sean Paul, Anitta, and Tainy. In recent news, he now holds a spot on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic songs of the decade. If 2020 is anything like this past year for Grigahcine, we are in for a treat.

Zane Lowe Reflects on 2019 and Looks Ahead for the Future of Music

The iconic DJ touches on the streaming era, the new generation, and why influencers should stick to influencing.

In an interview with NME, legendary DJ Zane Lowe sat down to give his perspective on the current state of music and where he sees it going as we enter into the new decade. As the Global Creative Director of Apple Music and host on Beats 1, he's at the forefront of music culture and has delivered some of the most iconic interviews of the world's top artists. If anyone would have a better understanding of music trajectory, it would be Lowe.

When getting into 2019 as a whole he reflected on how living in the age of streaming has created a space where artists no longer have to rely on the big guys for distribution, providing a surplus of content to absorb. "Every day is filled with excitement, music, creativity, and people wanting to get our attention," says Lowe.

He continues to touch on the impact our current state of the world has had on the music. The word he uses to describe that trend is anxiety. In artists like Billie Eilish, Tyler, the Creator, Lana Del Rey, and more you are hearing the agitation and anxiousness reflected in their work. The politics that used to be displayed in your face in previous generations are now portrayed in a less obvious way, requiring the listener to decipher there own meaning vs telling them what to believe.

On the topic of the boom of young artists, Lowe believes "we’re experiencing art from people much younger – because they’re being exposed to so much more." We are in an era where the youth no longer need to look up to people decades above them. They are now inspiring each other.

He touched upon exciting new acts to keep an eye out for including Kenny Beats, Dominic Fike, Bakar, and Girl In Red. He broke down the importance of the return of Rage Against the Machine and My Chemical Romance. Both of which have positioned themselves to be cornerstone bands.

Lowe's final point was to leave influencers making music in this decade. He expressed the need for labels and these influencers to show the business some integrity. There is no need to cross-pollinate the two fields, it only cheapens it.

Lane 8 Drops His Last Song of the Decade "Just"

The final single from his forthcoming album

Lane 8 (real name Daniel Goldstein) decided to close out 2019 by delivering one last surprise for his fans, a single titled "Just". This is the final track from his album Brightest Lights, scheduled to debut January 10th. If you were looking to start the new year off on the right note, let this track be your first move.

Doing what he does best, Goldstein delivers a bright, euphoric track with "Just". The detailed layering is captivating and will leave you lost in the beauty of it all. The melodic house melody that focuses on a simple recurring note keeps you at a calming pace while still stimulating your senses.

Along with the release of the track, Goldstein shared with followers his personal reflection of the last ten years and the concept behind the single. Over this decade he turned his dream into his reality while still keeping the same sense of joy for creating music he had since he was younger. That is what he hopes you get from "Just", the feeling of passion for doing whatever it is you love.

Goldstein has been gearing up for the release of Brightest Lights with a busy release spree. With only 10 days until the album comes out, "Just" is the sixth single released from the LP. The This Never Happened label boss also released his Winter Mixtape which featured this track as the opener to the mix.

Billboard Debuts Top Dance/Electronic Songs of the Decade

Featuring Marshmello, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, and more.

As 2019 comes to an end and the dawn of a new decade is upon us, there's no better time to reflect on what music made the most impact over the last ten years. While there are numerous ways to measure this, Billboard relies on airplay, streams, and sales. These charts tend to ruffle some feathers and are deemed as inaccurate representations of true quality music, e.g. Imagine Dragons claiming the majority of the top spots on the Rock charts. However, the Dance/Electronic decade-end chart seems to have had better success summing up our community's top hits.

In the top 10 are those few artists who have transcended the confines of the EDM market and entered into mainstream success. Leading the pack with the number one spot is Marshmello for the track "Happier" with Bastille. Coming in respectively behind are The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Avicii, Major Lazer, Skrillex, and DJ Snake. Claiming the most spots on the list were Zedd and DJ Snake, both of which with six tracks listed.

While many can argue there have been more impactful tracks to come out in the last decade, Billboard stands by their data. The fact is these charts are based on mainstream likeability, it excludes so many of the key players in the broader sub-genres of dance music. No matter your stance, this does provide a small trip down memory lane.
