Lollapalooza 2020 Officially Postponed Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Lollapalooza is the latest major music festival to bite the dust amid the global pandemic.

Beloved Chicago music festival Lollapalooza has officially been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

The global pandemic has wreaked havoc on the live music industry, as Lolla is the latest in a laundry list of major festival brands that were forced to reschedule their flagship events. Organizers shared an official statement via the Lollapalooza website and took to social media to share the solemn news.

“We wish we could bring Lollapalooza to Grant Park again this year, but we understand why things can’t move forward as planned,” organizers wrote. “The health and safety of our fans, artists, partners, staff and community is always our highest priority.”

You can read the statement in full below.

Lollapalooza fans, however, can find solace in the fact that the fest said it is hosting a virtual livestream over the same weekend as its original dates. The virtual event will feature “performances from around the city and beyond, epic archival sets from Chicago and the festival’s six international editions, never-before-seen footage from the 1990’s and much more.”
