University of Colorado Denver Announces Electronic Digital Instrument Courses

Students at University of Colorado Denver can now take courses in Electronic Digital Instruments.

University of Colorado Denver announced that they will allow students who study Music & Entertainment Industry Studies to declare Electronic Digital Instruments as their primary instrument and take coursework in it. Citing Red Rocks Amphitheatre as an example of electronic music's popularity, the official announcement post for the program states how the music is underrepresented in music education.

On the college's website, Todd Reid, a staff member and electronic instrumentalist, spoke on why they felt the new curriculum should be included. In his own words:

"I found that this is what the music students were making in their spare time, but nothing was offered in the classroom that reflected this interest.

At the same time I started to notice Denver venues promoting this style, so we started to bring the technology into the classroom and campus studios."
