Avicii's "Wake Me Up" Earns Top Chart Honors of The Decade for Dance Music

The late producer continues to make an impact on the charts.

Avicii's top hit "Wake Me Up" is the top-charting dance music track of the decade. As 2019 draws to a close, the U.K.'s Official Top 100 biggest songs of the 2010s has been compiled with "Wake Me Up" taking top honors in the dance music genre.

Compiled by the Official Charts Company, the list features a total of 55 number one hits, and a combined 207 million chart sales.

Avicii's 2013 number one hit featuring Aloe Blacc, "Wake Me Up," earned the #13 spot in the aggregate. The song marked a watershed moment for dance music at large as it was largely perceived to be the first time an artist had successfully merged country music and dance music influences together on a single track.

The full list shows more broadly the mainstream impact of dance music as numerous artists made it onto the full chart. Calvin Harris took four spots throughout the list. Daft Punk's 2013 hit "Get Lucky" earned #36, and Swedish House Mafia took #81 with "Don't You Worry Child," just to name a few.
