Greta Thunberg being named TIME Person of the Year has sparked an argument that has reached EDM.
Following a year of climate activism that has rendered her a household name, Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg has been named TIME Person of the Year. U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized her via Twitter following the announcement, eliciting backlash from numerous celebrities including Australian DJ/producer Alison Wonderland.
"So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend," wrote Trump in response to a congratulatory tweet by Irish actress Roma Downey. "Chill Greta, Chill!"
Alison Wonderland (real name Alexandra Sholler) joined the likes of Amy Siskind and Morten Øverbye in defending Thunberg. "Internet bullying of a child trying to help the earth by a world leader," Sholler wrote. "Is somebody jealous?"
Thunberg, 16, has spearheaded internationally recognized climate strikes since spring 2018. She is perhaps best known for her impassioned speech at the U.N. Climate Action Summit in September 2019.
As far as Thunberg's own response, she simply edited her Twitter bio to read: "A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend."
